Vision of Healthy India On 75th Republic Day
Republic Day is a public holiday commemorating the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect, marking the country's transition to a republic on January 26, 1950. Following independence from the British Raj on August 15, 1947, India initially operated under modified colonial laws outlined in the Government of India Act 1935. Subsequently, a committee, with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as its chairman, was formed to draft a permanent Constitution.
The Right to Health is enshrined in the constitution, outlining the framework for the entire country. Article 21 establishes the fundamental right to health for every citizen of India. This encompasses the right to access clean food, water, and air, along with the right to avail oneself of adequate healthcare facilities and services without discrimination.
Prioritizing health is essential for individuals, including maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, engaging in regular exercise, and ensuring sufficient rest. Simultaneously, the healthcare system plays a crucial role, in facing challenges related to accessibility, availability, affordability, and quality. To address these concerns, the government has initiated steps to digitize healthcare.
Recognizing health as a fundamental right emphasizes the significance of clean living conditions, access to quality healthcare, and the overall well-being of citizens. The ongoing efforts to enhance the healthcare system through digitization aim to make healthcare more accessible and efficient for all, aligning with the constitutional commitment to the Right to Health.
